Veryfy ESI Return

As chartered accountants are well aware that with effect from last half year ended 31st March,certification of Half Yearly returns of ESI by chartered accountants has been made Compulsory.

In this regard,most of the CAs are experiencing following difficulties:

• How much fees to charge
• What to Look For before marring thappa!

Fees is a personal choice and will depend upon client/CAs understanding.However,a few precautions to be taken are as under:

• We should thoroghly check up the columns where data pertaing to persons employed but not covered by the ESI scheme is to be given.
• Besides this we should look at the amounts put under the heads job work,repair & Maintenance,sanitation exp. etc.This could reveal employees indirectly employed in sweeping,canteen,cycle stand and a host of other things.
• Finally although we are not supposed to take on the mantle of ESI inspectors,yet we should not leave anything apparent or something which can crop up only on immediate scratching.
• Still better,We take a management representation on the matters illucidated above.Although Bhaiya jab Panga Padega to certificate bhi kaam nahin ayega!
